Favorite Chinese restaurant. Excellent service. The family traditions have been maintained. Carol is a super star. She greets and engages all customers. I don't know how she remembers so many names. The staff has been there literally decades. They know the menu well, and customers too .The food is delicious. We have not been disappointed by anything we've tried. Everyone we bring has enjoyed it and plans to return. BEST eggrolls. It's like visiting an old friend and eating momma's cooking. Definitely recommend.
We went, again, tonight and it remains our favorite. We continue to try new, to us, items from the menu and remain extremely pleased with every selection.

Congratulations on your write up by the Houston Chronicle.

Hostess was very friendly and inviting. Fresh tea was prepared and all dishes were fresh and delicious. Restaurant was clean and well lit. Not too crowded and food was quick to come out after ordering.

Don't get the Mongolian beef, it's more like a stew with really sickeningly sweet gravy. The egg roll was okay but honestly not much better than some premade ones I've had.

I had shrimp dumplings. Oh my gosh these were the best shrimp dumplings ever. With a side of hot chili oil and fresh garlic!

Wash it down with unsweet tea with some lemon. Followed by green pepper steak which was absolutely delicious when eaten with fried rice.

No dessert because I was already full.

As soon as I saw the yung chou chow mein, I dragged my family here. Our food plans fit right in with our visit to downtown Houston. See, my parents’ friends used to make this dish in my little hometown, but since they’ve retired, no one has filled this hole until China Garden. We had lemon chicken, yung Chou chow mein, wonton soup, mixed vegetables, HUGE and delicious egg rolls, and the ice cream pie for dessert! Oh they threw in some wonderful hush puppies as well. I wish I had extra stomachs. My family and I were in LOVE!!

For those reviewers griping about this isn’t authentic, you must not have grown up true Cantonese. What you’ve been eating is no longer whole Cantonese fare at other restaurants, even in Chinatown (yes, SF included). Most Asian restaurants serving dim sum and other dishes are mixed now with a Taiwanese or other Asian flair. So don’t knock this place.

We met the owners Carol, Cameron, and Richard. They are so nice and easy to talk to. Gwen on the staff is fantastic. Their parents created a beautiful legacy that this family is continuing.

Check it out. You won’t be disappointed!!

Staff is really nice but food is expensive & prices do not align w the online menu. We ordered carryout: chicken w vegetables which wasnt bad but the hot & sour soup wasn't good at all. I walked in to get my food & pay & it was $30 for those two items! WHAAAAT?!?!

Nice little sit down and order Chinese food place. All the staff was very friendly and informative, however they did look a little tired or maybe overworked. Our table had a couple of sauces in open bowls as did all tables; I would recommend they do away with that and opt for storing the sauces in closed jars. Kind of unsanitary and scary. I really liked their egg rolls that came with my meal and I generally NEVER eat them at other places. The food came out hot so that's another plus in my opinion and they don't have huge menus which I also like. Just a block walking distance to the Toyota center and a small bar inside too.

It's no wonder this place has been open and successful for so long! What a great meal! Look no further for amazing Cantonese food with wonderful, personalized service. This is a small, family owned and operated place and it shows. These folks are so friendly! They remember your name and treat you like part of the family. They cook for you that way as well! We tried a bit of everything and let me tell you, it was all delicious. The egg rolls were huge, hot, crispy, and so good!!! The Hunan beef was light, crunchy, and full of sweet orange flavor. It was probably our favorite out of everything we tried, but let me tell you, it was all phenomenal. We will definitely be back several times!
