Just like the bakeries in Chinatown in NYC. A blast of flavor from my childhood. Amazing. Best sponge I've had since I left the east coat. Everything is great. The pork buns, the curry dumplings. Try it all. Very reasonably priced.

This family owned business is a local gem. They specialize in Chinese Vietnamese baked goods including custom cakes. I ordered a taro cake with taro filling and it was delicious! A 8" custom two layer cake was $32. The cake was light and airy, not too sweet. The filling was a layer of real taro that has been sweetened and also a cream layer. I'm looking forward to trying their other cakes!

When I went to pick up the cake, I noticed they also had a small number of premade cakes in the fridge. Seemed slightly cheaper than the custom cakes.

Easy and fast service.

I feel like all traditional Chinese/Vietnamese bakeries are located in City Heights and I wanted a very specific flavor that 85 degree, Paris Baguette, and 99 ranch did not offer. I wanted pandan with durian fruit fillings in the Convoy area. So I found Tasty Bakery.

This bakery sells individual baked pastries like pate chaud, pandan coconut slices, salted egg sweet bun, taro bread, boba drinks, and cakes.

There are already made cakes in the fridge ready to be sold or you can pre-order to customize your own. What to keep in mind:

1. Inside cake flavor - I got pandan
2. Fruit fillings - I got durian
3. Outside icing color - I didn’t understand her and when I picked up, I got a green came which is the color of pandan. I would have asked for pink.
4. Side decoration - I got almond slices
5. Writing - I got happy birthday
6. Writing color - I got red
7. Cake size - I got the smallest which was 6 inches for $28. About 6-8 slices.
8. Pick up date - It was a Sunday and I asked for Tuesday but they are closed Tuesday and offered Monday. Which means they can take orders in 24 hours.
9. Fruit toppings such as strawberries or cherries. I got strawberries.

The cake turned out amazing and delicious. The cake is very moist, fluffy, light just like a sponge cake material. It’s green with the pandan flavor. In between the layer are full chucks of durian. The green icing was not too sweet.

I’m already looking forward to ordering a taro jackfruit cake for the next celebration.

The star of the show is their Meat Pie (minced pork with onions) baked in a flakey, crispy and delicate dough like a croissant. They sometimes aren't displayed on the cashier counter so you have to ask for it. $2 each

They have the best tasting pate so in town. Get them fresh and the delicious ground pork is shrouded in a flaky croissant-like crust. And they are so nice. I also bought a birthday cake there. So moist inside with layer of custard. I have never been disappointed.

Got the BBQ pork, custard, and red bean buns, plus some cheese toast. They were all really good, but the bread to red bean ratio was way too much for the steamed red bean bun. I'd get the baked buns instead, which are creamy and soft. The custard was not stale like the other review described and had a yellow pattern on top that turned out to be lemon! BBQ pork bun is about what you'd expect, but with pork chunks instead of "pulled" pork texture. Lastly, the toast was delicious and milky, but you don't get the cheese until the middle. But I guess that's to be expected. I'd definitely come again!

Was from out of town and was my
daughters 1st birthday. We could not find a bakery near our hotel but stumbled onto Tasty Bakery after several closed bakeries still listed as open. Anyway the bread, cake, cupcakes, slushy and drinks were delicious! Was able to get a delicious 8in cake with fresh fruit on top and b-day message in 5 min. Great place!

I've only tried the various baked and steamed bao, and they're generally pretty good. My only complaint is that the sweet bao (namely the egg custard bao) didn't seem very fresh.
