Definitely the most delicious cake!! I was in town for my son’s wedding, but needed a cake for 2 of my son’s birthdays the same weekend. I wanted it for a surprise cake the evening of the wedding rehearsal dinner. It’s so hard to find a nice cake when you’re not familiar, and are from out of town. I chose Kona Kakes because they had awesome reviews. The cake was beautiful. I got the one everyone raved about, Carmel macadamia! Everyone loved this cake!! Everyone!! Not too sweet! Delicious frosting!! So moist! Definitely will be our go to place for all future celebration cakes in SD! Yum!!!!!!!!!

If you're thinking of ordering a cake from this company, DO IT!! you will not regret it.
I am from Memphis, Tennessee. My family and I traveled to San Diego for my sisters elopement. Let me just say, this was actually the BEST cake I have ever tasted. on top of the amazing flavor, the presentation was just absolutely beautiful. I ordered a simple 10 inch all white with white orchids. It was everything. Flawless and the bride LOVED it.
Janice was absolutely amazing at communicating with me. I am so glad I put my faith in this company. They went above and beyond. I will forever go back to them for all cake needs in the future and refer them to everyone I know in the area. THANK YOU KONA KAKES, for helping my sister's special day even more special.

Ordered 2 cakes from here and they were amazing. Passionfruit or the Haupia cakes are must-try! Staff was friendly and helpful, made ordering a breeze. We will definitely be back!

Best cake I've ever had. It was a Coconut Haupia cake, which no one here makes anything with Haupia as it is a popular flavor in Hawaii. The cake is very dense and moist and the Haupia had the best flavor. The cake was absolutely gorgeous, covered in fresh flowers. Not an inexpensive cake but definitely worth every dollar. I will be ordering my cakes from now on here.

Went to a party last night in SDC that had 2 of Kona’s Kakes. Immediately I noticed the presentation. The cakes were large and beautifully decorated with fresh flowers. They were two different flavors. I’m not sure which, but by the description I think one was carmel macadamia. Not chintzy on the macadamia I might add. They both tasted amazing, super fresh and not too sweet. There was no “commercial” taste to the cakes, which I appreciated. They were so delicious and impressive I asked the hostess where she got them. Apparently I was not alone. Several guests inquired about the bakery. Our next event will include a Kona Kake..

My Girlfriend and I , currently have a long distance relationship. She lives in San Diego California, and I live in New York. She is so special to me but the distance that separates us , at times makes it tough.???? So, when her birthday rolled around - I had to scramble to try to find a cake at the last minute…
Every place I called had no cakes to sell or made it difficult to order. That all changed when I contacted Kona Kakes, They were AMAZING !!! from start to finish, everything was done mostly over the phone or via email Janice & Aaron are so helpful … And though they do NOT provide delivery - They suggested a Uber to accommodate the delivery , they made sure that Kona Kake, made it on board safe and sound … And made her day sooooooo so special !! Thank you so much guys - And I look forward to ordering again though I did not taste the cake , It got high delicious tasty reviews and smiles from those who did eat…????

Completely unprofessional staff and management. Avoid at all cost!!!
We came from out of town for an 8-inch birthday cake for $150 that we had to wait for because the management team couldn’t be honest and tell us a pick up time. All they stated in the email is that they open at 11am and “an assistant is there until 4.” We showed up at 3:30 pm to wait for a cake, which we happily did, but management kept giving us the run around on when the cake would be ready. They kept saying “5-10 minutes.” Finally, the cake is done and ready at 4:10. Clearly, we are unhappy customers and instead of listening to us, they continued to argue with us and stared us down as we walked out and wanted us out of their shop.
Note to the owners: having decent customer service and honesty is part of owning a good business Janice. But from reading previous reviews on Yelp, Janice does not care about her customers.

Kona Kakes created the wedding cake of our dreams. It looked beautiful and tasted even better.
Janice made us feel like family from the start and helped us design the cake, as she both accommodated our requests while using her expertise to guide us. We look forward to ordering a mini cake for our anniversary!

My family and I were visiting San Diego for my daughters 21st birthday. I thought of everything but the cake. I called Kona Kakes on Friday hoping for a cake by Sunday, I was told they are closed on Sunday, so they could have it ready on Saturday. We were enjoying the zoo Saturday and I completely forgot about the cake. It was after store hours but I tried to reach them by phone anyways, the owner answered and said she would wait for us to arrive. This in itself was truly amazing, but the cake! The cake was beautiful, delicious, moist, decadent, and extremely flavorful! We had the Caramel Macadamia Nut Cake. Everyone and most of all, my daughter loved the cake! If you live near Kona Kakes then count yourself blessed and try this place. I wish there was a Kona Kakes in Las Vegas.

Idk never been to hawAii but not sure if there’s shortage of strawberries and an overage of Parmesan here. Who puts cheese on a cake anyway?????? Pictures are deceiving, this cake does NOT look like it was portrayed. Also my friends fault for liking strawberry cake for his birthday? Obviously chocolate is better
