Got a voucher for this place, it was great! Amazing flavorful food and a nice sake to go with it.

I'm a person who loves tempura so I ordered lots of tempura.
The Nikko roll dish was good with salmon on top.

Okay sushi, rude server, and basically no service. We wanted to order some extra items, but the waiter never showed up. After that, another waiter told me they suggested an 18% tip! When I refused, she threw a tablet on the table to show how upset she was!!!

The cook was picking food from his mouth standing over pots, then he took his phone, started typing, and then went back to handling food...scary to think if they do it in front of you, what happens behind the scene.

Staff was very friendly with wonderful recommendations from the server! The ahi tower was very good as was the sushi that came in a foil on fire.

I mean... sheesh. I couldn't have asked for a better Japanese spot. Truly a hidden gem.

So let's begin - I came in on a lowkey Monday night after traveling into NYC. To think I was going to order UberEats from some other Japanese spot is insane.

If you're staying at 50 Bowery (or surrounding hotels), please do not make the mistake I almost did. Pop over this way and you will not be disappointed.

From the start of me walking in, to my departure the service was impeccable. They take their time but are very efficient in providing you with the service, the flavor and experience that I feel we should all be able to experience in life.

Even though I wasn't able to make it to the back bar to enjoy the vibes, this was the final touch that has me sold on Shinsen.

I don't write too many reviews, and when I do- it's always a 110% of how I feel.

Will be back - very soon ????

Easily one of the top three places I’ve had sushi in the city after visiting well over 100! The is extremely fresh, the service is on point and the place is extremely clean! Can’t wait to come back! Yes it’s a little pricey but so worth every penny

Fantastic sushi. Just the right temperature and very fresh. Pricey, but that is New York City. Miso soup was top notch too. The manager - Tony - came up and talked with me...said they only opened about 8 weeks ago. This is the only sushi in Chinatown that I could find. 2 doors down from the Hotel 50 Bowery. Will definitely go back next time I am in town.

I finally got to try this place aside from getting their amazing matcha latte and matcha affogato to go. Great coffee roast too and you can sit down and enjoy. I came here for lunch during Judy duty and ordered Canal St Chirashi Bowl, it was so good that I shed a tear (not wasabi effect). Great open space, minimalist, it's a new breadth in heart of Chinatown food scene unlike most surrounding restaurants. It's wonderful they chose this spot and want to bring some change to Bowery. The owners wife was super friendly, we had a nice chat, but overall great service and attentive staff. Oh and fresh wild salmon, let it be praised! Can’t wait to go back with friends.

Not a bad for Chinatown, a little pricey but fish is fresh. Not the highest grade but good enough. Newer style sushi flavors with sauces and the such. Space is nice and staff friendly.
