CHELSEA, NY – Established in 1868, Old Homestead Steakhouse is one of the oldest steakhouses in New York City.
.
With a large cattle and neon sign hanging above its door on the side of a traditional New York City building, Old Homestead Steakhouse features juicy steaks, seafood, and a variety of dishes with great presentation, a warm ambiance and some of the most attractive beef cuts you’ll see.
The burger buns are branded with the restaurant’s insignia. This is quality beef and you can get it as rare as you want it! They have a terrific technique of cooking it just right in the outside and inside.
.
Most patrons come back again and again, since this establishment is part of history. Although, there have been some complaints from first-time customers who found the beef was bland, and the only saving grace was the fact that was tender and juicy.
.
Others claim the Ribeye steak tasted better at other places. And It seems that the shrimp is not marinated properly, so it has very little to no taste.

Honestly, it was really good. The bartender (Chris) was amazing and the steak (barrel cut filet) was spot on. I asked where the beef came from and they were quick to say "only Kansas City and Nebraska beef" which I appreciated. Definitely not your "vibey" new steakhouse but a tried and true gem. Decent bourbon selection but would shy away from mixed drinks. Food A| Drinks B| Service A+ | Atmosphere A

The steaks were huge but it was literally *just* meat, no sides or anything unless you ordered them separately. The meat itself was also pretty bland, but tender, which was the saving grace. Nice but loud atmosphere. Most likely not gonna go back.

Went there with 3 of my golf buddies for dinner. The overall experience was Ok. Not great. The medium rare steaks were decently cooked. Though we would have liked a better crispier crust. We had couple of drinks, 4 appetizers, bottle of wine, porterhouse for 2, ribeye for 2, 2 sides, 4 coffees and 2 dessert, $800 with tips.

Good food with good service. A nice steakhouse but missing the wow factor. We thought it was very expensive for what it was.

Came here for dinner and everything was delicious. The sirloin I ordered was one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. I also enjoyed the Lobster Mac & Cheese, and the brocolli was cooked to perfection. The entire staff was very friendly as well, and our waiter was awesome. Will definitely be back, and recommend

This may be the oldest steak house in NYC but to be very honest I had better Ribeye Steak at other places. The only thing good about this is being part of history.
Shrimp was huge in size but had no flavor and was super tough.
Bread starter was good and Creme Brulee was decent.

The worst steakhous in New York City EVER! Do not dare to risk the same experience I had today. Nobody cares how you are doing with the food. They just stand next to you for the whole time and don't even fill up your wine glasses but still include 20% of gratuity which I believe is beyond the service that I received. A half bottle of wine $26+ceasar salad $18.5+porterhour for two $155+gratuity=$257.10 paid. Doesn't deserve this amount of money AT ALL! Just go to some other places!!!!! PLEASE!!!!

Their steaks are good.
But boy, the waits for table, even with reservations, are way too long.
Mediocre and high priced sides.
Drinks are made by an amateur (the waiter didn’t bother to ask how I like my vodka martinis)
Desserts and carpeted floors are miserable.
The redeeming qualities are friendliness of staffs and decent steaks.
