You just have to support these mom and pop shops! This restaurant has been here for decades providing great Caribbean Latin food for the community. Whenever I go to a spot like this I have to get the AJONJOLI (Sesame seed drink) which is sweet and so good! I was in the neighborhood for the Puerto Rican ???????? day festival and they were so gracious to allow us to use the bathroom. We were paying customers after all.

Was ok. I was expecting a bit more flavor, bit not bad and prices are good.

Sabor Boricua to the max, love to pass by once in a blue moon to be remind it of my upbringing and sabor. I love the set up and even the frequent patrons who for the most part are elderly Puerto Ricans who love a taste of the Island. The prices still very affordable and the taste unique to the Barrio. Warning if you go there for lunch time, be patient many people love that place too

Ignore the 5 stars: it's the restaurants friends or family members. They lying.

(UPDATE)

I changed my mind. The food is bad. Rice and beans are not seasoned, the chicken is badly fried and the steak with peppers are not even cooked good and not seasoned. No flavors. These people are rude and disgusting.

They purposely ignored me and let other customers skip me in line because I was not Spanish. I even called ahead. My order was sitting in the window. It’s unfortunate in this day and time, service isn’t based of principle-but personality. The good news is I don’t have to return. Several other options in the neighborhood.

I live in Texas but visit family in NYC/NJ and every time I land at LaGuardia, I head straight here for their mondongo with white rice. It's my most favorite dish. Unfortunately, when ordering "to go" it takes sooooo long, to the point I walked out after waiting 15 minutes to place my order, because I had my flight back to Texas to catch. When they're busy, it's very disorganized and patrons are not attended to in the proper order. I was disappointed in that experience and I'm not sure I'll be back.

I've been coming to the establishment for at least 10 years if not longer. While the quality of the food has gone down their prices have just gone up. I completely understand the high demand in rent and materials and labor But it really doesn't account for their food tasting worse than it has in years prior. Specifically their Papa Fritas I remember getting them for a $1.25 and them being so delicious And now they're either 2.50 or 2.75 and the masa / meat filling is meh.

Really was hoping to like this spot but after numerous times I’ll have to pass on it. The combos are decent prices however, the chicken is really dry as well as the rice and beans have no good authentic flavor. The alcapurias were soaked in way too much oil and the empanadas are hit or miss every time you get them. Chicken empanada filling was so dry and flavorless, it looked just like orange paste was put in the empanada and they called it a day. Also be aware you’ll have to wait just to even order your food and then some. You’ll need a lot of patience and easy palette to please if you want to get a decent meal.
