A festive, tasty spot with a history. Go for the drinks but skip the paella (not what it once was).

The atmosphere in this restaurant is 5/5, very relaxing and the staff was extremely helpful and treated us with respect. The seats and tables however were a little too small, if you’re a big person it’s a little bit uncomfortable.
Now the food;
Very underwhelming and not worth premium prices of the restaurant.
Appetizers;
Cheese plate was good
Jamon Serrano was good, but extremely salty
Main courses;
Chicken was dry.
Paella had flavor but didn’t taste fresh.
Lobster was the best part of the dinner, had flavor, taste and felt like it was kind of worth its price.
Desserts;
Avoid the desserts, they only had 2 on the menu and both were bad.

At last I finally understand the meaning of fine dining and I owe it all to our experience at El Quijote. As a New Yorker I am always open to new experiences and this was certainly unprecedented and unique. I ordered the rotisserie chicken which I was informed came with no side dish for $32 so I hope that’s fine with you because it is certainly fine with us but let’s not stop there. In order to emphasize the real meaning of fine dining, let’s bring out four prawns for $24 that you better be fine with peeling yourself. I hope it’s fine with you guys that you are not getting a side dish with this either. Fine? Good, now let’s commence onto dessert because by this time you should be starving. I hope you like olive oil because your ice cream will be swimming in it. Of course you could buy five Baskin-and-Robbins ice cream cones for what this olive oil laden treat cost and I can’t even begin to tell you how superior my rotisserie chicken was from Costco for $4.99 eons better than the one I received here but that is not fine dining. You asked for fine dining and this is it. In all fairness this is a beautiful place decor wise if you’re looking for a nice atmosphere and you’re not going to order any food.

Look, the food is good. Atmosphere is great. Service is wonderful. But I have been going there for 50 years. In the old days, 3 people could eat from 1 order of paella. Now we pay tripe theamount and there is a speck of food on the plat. Way too expensive now.

Located in Hotel Chelsea, El Quijote is a feast for the eyes and senses. The entire staff was welcoming/engaging and you could feel the history eminating throughout. We loved the personal story our wine sommelier shared with us about her daily 'gratitud', hence the name of our chosen wine for the evening.

This restaurant is a NY staple that's been around almost 100 years. It closed temporarily for renovations and recently reopened. It took me months to get a reservation. The service and ambiance were great. Menu was not that expansive and all portions are pretty small with the exception of the paella. It was tasty but not worth the wait or the money. I won't be back. There's better tapas in NYC.

Restaurant has a great interior and a very nice bar. Service is kind and attentive. A few things on the menu we had were not impressive, maybe because they were short staffed. Paella had rice stuck to the bottom so there was not much of it left to eat. It also was made with rabbit meat. Pasta that was on the menu had a specific taste, not used to it I guess. It was in a sour sauce. Rib eye was excellent. Temperanio wine was very good and all the cocktails we had. It was also pricy.

Very good food with service to match. The restaurant has a quirky interior which I really liked. The anchovies were so good, as was the paella. Would definitely return.

Excellent food, beautiful “patina-ed” restoration. Friendly fast service. Romantic and historic.

This place it’s fabulous!! The vintage Spanish vibe from the restaurant, the detail attention form the servers, order the sangria it’s really good. I had 6 different dishes and they were all great! My favorite was the Chipirones with squid ink and the croquetas.
Highly recommend:)
