I visited the famous Carnegie Diner for brunch recently and I was not impressed. The service was very slow, I had to keep looking for the waiter. I got the pancakes which had amazing flavor but didn't have me wanting to come back. I got the bottomless mimosas. I loved that they used freshly squeezed oranges but the waiter felt as if I was not taking my time as he told me relax I have 2 hours as I asked for another after my glass was empty. Everything was just average and I would not return. Also this place is very busy with only 2 bathrooms.

I'm typically leery to dine around touristy areas, but this diner has a good reputation and has been there for a long time so i figured they probably are doing something right. And yes, I'm happy to report that they're quite good! Are there better diners elsewhere? Sure, but when you're in this area, this may be your best bet for diner food. The egg white omelette is not greasy, salad is good (although slightly heavy on the dressing so I'd suggest you get your dressing on the side). The lollipop pancakes and waffles for the kids were delicious and passed the "kids test". Their latte is nice and strong.
Portion sizes, as diners go, is reasonable. Prices is slightly high for a diner but it's very reasonable considering the area (Central Park vicinity).
They do serve alcohol too, if you wish.
Service was good and the turnaround time was fast, I'd still suggest getting a reservation though if possible.

Amazing food! Serves just about everything! 1 star off for The service. Our waitress was not very nice, she was in such a rush that she never really listened to what we asked for and caught an attitude when what she brought us was not what we wanted. They have a wide variety of food and the atmosphere is really nice.

They seem to be crowded all the time especially brunch til late lunch time. Due to the long queue wait they seem to rush everything and my unfinished food was taken without asking as soon as I asked for the bill. So sad that I kept 2 tiny pancakes for my last bite????. Strawberries salad I ordered was so good and the milkshake menus were fantabulous and super tasty. If do not mind the services and the crowd this place is perfect to have a good energy breakfast!

Nice place for quick lunch. They also serve some drinks:)

Place can be busy during breakfast and lunch time. Stuff is friendly and food is fresh. Benny's eggs wasn't the best in my life (and I usually order that in diners) but salad and side pancakes was pretty good.
And don't forget about unlimited coffee refill ????

This was close to the end point of our Central Park carriage ride, so it was an easy walk to go grab some brunch. My husband and I both wanted the corned beef sandwich, and when we saw it had a half pound of meat, we made the wise decision to split one. I also ordered a slice of the spinach pie appetizer to share with him, and it was served with a generous green salad, like the sandwich was. We were both completely satisfied with our meal and delighted by the quality. Sitting by the window gave us a chance to people watch, and the service was good -- if you needed something, it was pretty easy to get attention.

Specifically sought out the cafe as one of the stops while visiting. The cafe was busy which is always a good sign for good food. Ordered the southern chicken sandwich, triple decker grilled chicken, chocolate pancake strawberry shake. Food was tasty and filling, staff was friendly and observant of the services you need.

My family and I ate at Carnegie Diner for breakfast recently. Carnegie has a wide selection of choices on the menu for adults and kids, and everyone was satisfied with what they ordered. The food presentation was very pretty, especially the waffles with fruit as well as the vegetarian omelette. Our server was excellent. Carnegie serves Lavazza coffee, and they can serve it up any way you fancy, although I just had a regular coffee. My sister went in another drink direction and had a Mimosa; she said it was delicious. I would definitely go back to Carnegie for breakfast, and I would like to try it for lunch and dinner. I love the booths, the subway tile walls, and the fun art. It’s a lively, New York City atmosphere.

Visiting from San Antonio TX, my husband and I were on the fence to try the bagel with salmon and cream cheese since it's all over the city. We tried it and it was delicious. We also had the mozzarella sticks, pastrami sandwich and avocado toast all delicious and the vanilla heaven coffee very tasty. Prices are very reasonable compared to the places we visited.

Stopped in for breakfast that was close to our hotel and Central Park. Made a reservation on open table but when we got there we were seated without asking if we had made an online reservation or not. Staff was friendly, not exactly helpful. I wasn’t overly impressed with my waffle and asked for fruit on top and received melons and cantaloupe on the side. Not exactly what I wanted to top my waffle with. Overall it was a nice restaurant and their dessert options looked lovely. Probably would pass on visiting again.
