This place is now called Bice. I've been here several times since it changed names. The food is good and service friendly. And I've always had a positive experience. But this time it was not so good. They brought the wrong dish to my friend. It took a while for the correct dish to arrive. When we got the check we were charged for the wrong dish which cost more than the dish she ordered. When my friend pointed this out, instead of correcting the bill the server gave her cash for the price difference. It didn't feel right.

Came here for anniversary. The place was nice but the food was very disappointing for the price. The bread was stale, the Linguine alla Vongole had no flavor, and the Lasagna was mostly cream and ground beef which drowned out the pasta which again had no seasoning. And our waiter had no interest in serving us, while other waiters had great energy and charisma. Very plain for such a beautiful restaurant. Only decent dish was our appetizer, the Caprese. First time there, likely I won’t be back.

I never write reviews but I think this experience needs a review. We order some parmesan cheese to start, and it wasn’t good it taste very bad. Then we order to share a spinach and ricotta ravioli and we had to return them; it tasted like they if they were defrosted. The mushroom risotto was tasteless. We put salt and some cheese and it was somehow acceptable. The pizza was the only good thing we had.
Service was good.

Not coming back

The food and service is beyond excellent. The lasagna was crisp and extremely flavorful. The wine isn't necessarily cheap, but it doesn't taste cheap either. Perfect for a date night or a glass of wine and dessert. The lasagna was slightly not to temperature in the center, but it was so excellent I did not want to send it back. If you are in the area and are in need of an Italian joint, it would be hard to beat this place.

Good food, excellent service, but not for everyone.
While I completely understand that some folks give this place 4 and 5 stars I just don't see it that way. The food is quite good and very authentic, that said authentic isn't always a complement. For those who have visited Italy you know that authentic Italian food has "subtle" flavors (some might say bland). This restaurant is true to that tradition. While I enjoyed my meal, as did my wife and kids, this is not Olive Garden. You are expected to chew your food and enjoy the subtle flavors of the sauce and the pasta (if that is what you choose to get as I did). The restaurant is lovely and the service is quite good so if you like authentic Italian food and are not afraid to pay NYC prices this is the place for you.

I had artichoke cream mushroom soup and after one spoon, it had to go back to the kitchen, too bitter. Wasted money for the soup; actually I can't believe that I was charged for it after all. No one mentioned anything as they took the soup back to kitchen.

Also had a seafood black noodle pasta, not very impressive. No richness in taste, again it has bitter ending taste. The sauce can be improved much better than what they served today. Definitely not worth of $30.

Plus, it's too noisy. Not a quiet and comfortable atmosphere.

This place is not a place to recommend if you expect good quality food with a pleasant dining time.

I came here for dinner with my friend's family, they had already sat down for their meal. The staff was attentive and poured me a glass of sparkling water and white wine, I ordered a simple pasta dish, with tomatoes, anchovies, capers, cured olives. Throughout the entire meal the staff was polite and accommodating, they kept the table clean -- I felt as if I was in a higher quality restaurant.

For an appetizer the entire table split two margarita pizzas, both of which were good on the account of good basil, but wasn't much better than what you could expect at any pizza place in the city. It was American styled pizza, lacked that certain rustic Italian feel , but good enough for a light appetizer. My pasta was paradoxically both over-cooked, but had an undercooked piece of bound strands buried within the presentation. The dish wasn't terribly balanced and it reminded me of frozen pasta I have had cooked out of a bag from Trader Joes; at $19 for the plate it was a bit incisor-glaring... the colors were bland and with its mushy texture I felt ripped off to some extent.

My friend had their tuna off the chef's specialties -- the outside was covered in burned sea sesame seeds and charred almost inedible flesh. The interior was falling apart, and tasted a little old.

All in all the food was a descending OK; But, given the expense of the meal, I wouldn't recommend the Bistro Milano.
