Ample selection of staples for a bakery (croissants, Danishes) plus several Italian cookies. Well flavored pastries but freshness could improve given the cost

Some of the best pastiers ever! The espresso brownie is like a hug from Nona, it restores your soul. The crossiants we're perfect and so flavorfull. Don't skip the shot of espresso, wakes ya right up and the tastes like magic in a cup.

My new favorite bakery. I like the variety of Italian cookies and cakes that they offer. Not too sweet, just perfect ????.

Founded by Luigi Scafuri in 1904 the Bakery bearing his family name has a long and storied history in Chicago’s Near West Side, its location at 1337 West Taylor Street now owned and operated by Great-great-nieces Michelle and Kelly since 2013.

Native to Calabria, and no stranger to difficult times including Scafuri Bakery’s six-year closure beginning in 2007, guests in the era of COVID-19 will find the narrow space currently open for take-out from 8:00am to 1:00pm Friday through Sunday, a male employee the only person present and not especially pleasant around 9:00am as a steady-rain fell outside.

Currently offering a limited menu of largely non-Italian items, Croissants, Donuts and Scones replacing Tricolor Cookies, Sfogliatelle or Baba, it is from a menu lacking prices that choices are made, $2.25 for a Yeast Donut no better than Dunkin simply egregious while $3.00 for a Chocolate Frosted Bombolini would have seemed a better value if the Butterscotch center didn’t taste like store-bought Pudding.

Heartened by a Cheese Danish, good lamination and a modestly-sweetened center comparing favorably to others tasted across America, those seeking something savory were left to choose between Turkey Parmesan Croissants or Scafuri’s Fig + Prosciutto Scone, the latter a bit dry but otherwise enjoyable while a “Pastry Case Favorite” Cherry Brownie ate fudgey and Cake-like plenty of Fruit within.

The scones and croissants were amazing!!! Wow we are planning to make this our go-to for a Saturday morning bakery. I wish I had taken a picture of the croissants, but we ate them too fast. Great, friendly service too!

I ordered cookies on Sunday, December16th on the website and paid for 2 day delivery. My expectation was the order would be filled within 2-3 business days and the cookies would be shipped fresh on the delivery date chosen which was Saturday, December 22nd. I emailed to follow up on my order and received an email that the cookies were shipping on December 18th which included a link to usps. I clicked the link for the next 2 business days and there was no information indicating the order was even picked up. The order finally was associated with the usps link on Thursday December 20th at 8pm. At this time the cookies were now at least 3 days old. I finally received the cookies on the evening of Monday December 24th, now almost 1 week old. These were a gift for my family in which I spent $86 on. When I opened the package and tried them, they were all stale and very dry. They were also on a plastic dish with saran wrap. This is not how they were shown on the website. Overall, I am very dissapointed in the customer experience I have received from this company. I've emailed and asked for at least 50% off and have not received a response. I would not recommend ordering from here. The items were not fresh or prepared as shown on the website.
