Look, the history here and far-reaching influence of the Nozawa/Sasabune brand is undeniable, and anybody who thinks they know US sushi should be visiting here at least once in their lives.

But from a pure cost-value standpoint, this is an experience that has long been eclipsed by newer, more ambitious sushi restaurants. Sure, the warm rice and "square" nigiri shape are iconic. But too often that rice is soaked in ponzu or sweet soy sauce, and it is devoid of any vinegar or salt seasoning. The wasabi is a mix from a packet, not the fresh stuff. And the "omakase" sequence seems to change very little with the seasons. At a $150-200 price point, it's tough to make a case that this should be destination-worthy sushi for anybody aside from nostalgia-seekers.

Traditional japanese sushi. Very good quality. Service was a bit slow during lunch time but friendly.

Absolutely phenomenal. Not just from a taste standpoint but also a price for value standpoint.

I would highly recommend. There were a 2 pieces of the chef menu that weren't perfect. But the majority of the rest were and more than made up for it.

Less of an intimate date atmosphere and more of a casual date/dinner with friends.

Go here I totally recommend it

I love ordering a la carte nigiri sushi here - it's always so fresh and we'll made. The toro and kanpachi are particular standouts to me.

The sushi melts in your mouth, rice cooked perfectly. Try the chef’s speciality menu. Fabulous! Will definitely be back again!

What an amazing traditional Japanese sushi experience! I love it and they have lunch specials which provide a great deal too! The waitresses are friendly and helpful and the omakase is delicious! They will even tailor it to your appetite! If you're full, they'll adjust the price. There is parking in the lot right next to them. Definitely a go to and will be back!

Disappointing. This restaurant came highly recommended by different sources. Had the sushi lunch here and was astonished that they put 2 small pieces of sashimi to make up the sushi...overall not fresh too.

We went for my birthday dinner. I wanted to have amazing sushi for my birthday and I wasn’t disappointed. The only bad thing I would say is that it’s a bit over priced the bill for two of us was over $300. Oh and the parking... they don’t have any so you have to street park

Pure sushi experience. There are Japanese style and American style to choose from for the omakase. We did both but felt the Japanese style matches out tastes better.
