BYOB No alcohol served here, they let you bring it in. Crawfish were seasoned well. They were small and many were over cooked to mush and he didn’t stay with the revised recipe on the gumbo from the show. It’s more like soup. It’s tasty though. I almost forgot, no, they don’t purge the crawfish.

Shrimp, crawfish, sausage, corn on the cob and potatoes seasoned how you like it, mild or hot or in between. Add more seasonings or melted butter or red cocktail sauce. Warm sourdough bread.
Check days open before you go. Right now Friday-Sunday.

My husband and I were in the area and since the ratings were very high for this place, we decided to stop in. We didn't realize many ratings were from people who watched a tv show about the place but hadn't actually visited. The menu is small with choices of shrimp or crawfish boils and then boudin, sausage, or gumbo as main meals. We decided we just wanted the gumbo bowls. Service was very fast at 5:30 on a Friday. The gumbo was very bland and like a soup. They served it with two packages of crackers. The fact it was $12 for a small bowl was aggravating since we had to add spices to make it edible. With so few things on the menu, this gumbo should have been amazing. We felt gypped walking out paying over $40 for two bowls of gumbo, a corn on the cob, a sweet tea poured from a Red Diamond jug, and a canned sprite. The staff was friendly.

Amazing food! Fresh, served right at the table. Little hole in the wall for Cajun

I guess I should not have expected good crawfish in the hill country. The crawfish were tiny, overpriced and BAD! When I say bad, I mean they were dead before they even hit the pot. So disappointing. I saw this restaurant on queer eye and wanted to give it a shot. looks like they put lipstick on a pig. I so wanted it to be a great place we could visit when in town. I love supporting small businesses but this needs a lot more work.

The seasoning used for crawfish was really good. However, the crawfish was over cooked and hard to peel. It's early in the season so the crawfish is pretty small. So when you overcook it and charge $22+ for 2 lbs....not worth a returned visit. I had high hopes for them!
Positive: The staff is super friendly.

The story of this establishment is awesome. Todd lost his wife but is finding a way to move forward. This place has a great atmosphere and awesome food. The crawfish are to die for. Excellent service and they treat you like family here.

Anniversary dinner at Plooky's was amazing, they stayed open later just so we could have a wonderful sit down dinner and man did we eat!
We both had to work on our anniversary and this was an awesome way to end our day. Tod and Cameron made us feel like family and even gave us dessert to take home????
If your in the canyon lake area check them out! It's also BYOB ????

While staying in Canyon Lake area for the summer we wanted to try some good seafood. We love the Boiling Pot in Rockport and found this place just North of Hancock area of the lake. They've really spruced up the place since the last reviews 3 years ago. My husband and I got the Shrimp boil pot. We can eat and this filled us up! $22.95 for a pound of huge gulf shrimp, potatoes, sausage, corn and sourdough bread. We should've ordered the medium spice, my husband likes spicy but I can't take the heat. The key lime and banana pies were also delicious!! The staff (all family of the owner) is super friendly. They are open from 5-9 and it's byob. We will be going back!!
