I’m not sure about other Americans but stroganoff has always been a comfort dish for my family and the Veselka stroganoff hits the spot perfectly. We couldn’t decide between the cold or hot borscht so we got both and I recommend you do the same because they are different enough to warrant the second bowl and both are delicious. Pierogi - delicious, as expected. We sat outside but the decor both outside and in is really nice and it feels good to celebrate Ukrainian-American heritage given current events. Слава Україні!

I had breakfast on a beautiful spring morning and the place is so spacious with lots of natural light.
Staff were friendly and I asked for most traditional items they had.
Wonderful place for culture experience.
Bonus point for the art and decor

what a great ambiance dining in or out, staff are friendly very busy! the pierogies preferred the goat cheese with lots of delish caramelized onions with sour cream and apple sauce - WHAT A TREAT! If you're up for a coffee pair their moist perfectly baked poppy seed pound cake. The Borscht AKA beet soup (although my palate or brain couldn't quite adapt to the thought) it was very tasty, hardy, flavorful and full of vitamins!

A rather spacious place, filled with Ukrainian inspired art. Every table was full, there was a line that moved quite quickly. It appears to be a popular place as packed as it was, but despite being busy service was prompt. The borsch was we close to traditional as I have ever tasted in the USA; it all was very close to home.

Both the of the borscht were amazing. One of the best soups I have ever had. We got two different combination plates: the latke with beef stroganoff and the cabbage roll with the different pierogis and a sausage. The side additions were so flavorful. Always such fast service as well

So this is Ukrainian restaurant, I wanted to go there so long and finally I did it and it's all because I missed by our Ukrainian Borsh! And honestly my food)))
So I was shocked thia place is so popular, we stayed on line like 10-15 minutes, inside was full, but it worth it. Ordered borsh and the vegetarian plate- 4 dumplings and 1 cabbage "golubets". Everything was tasty ????, recommend

Great food!!!! Only issue I had was it went too fast and my stomach didn't have room for more. Wish I lived in NY to eat more of this. Waitress was really knowledgeable and helpful, nice too! Great place to try. You won't regret it!

I write this review knowing that the reputation of Veselka more than precedes it, but I am doing so anyway because I simply had to share my experience. (Case in point: I told a friend I ate at a Ukrainian restaurant Downtown, and he immediately replied, "Veselka?") The day I patronised the restaurant was particularly cold, and there was a line outside to get in. It would have been a miserably frostbitten experience but for the heat lamps along the way and the reassurances of the kind staff that our party would soon be seated. Once inside, we were attended to and subsequently served almost instantly, despite how busy it was during lunchtime. And this brings us to the food: simply wonderful! Although most of us were first-timers (more on that in a minute), my friend whose family is Ukrainian and Slovak swears by the dishes here, and with good reason. Every plate was picked clean within minutes! And the pricing, considering the quality and city, was quite fair. As we left the restaurant, I made sure to tell the gentleman who appeared to be the owner and/or manager how so many of us had never been before — but that we would be back.

I had their Beef Stroganoff and a Cappuccino. The crowd was medium, and we got a table without reservation at around 9 a in the morning. The food is so so delicious. Loved our first experience of Ukrainian food. Would love to return when we revisit NYC.

This is place is a must-try especially for those unacquainted to Ukrainian culture and cuisine. The menu was so diverse and covered almost every major Ukrainian dish from Side Dishes to the Dessert. The decor and ambiance are extremely familial and warm. Would recommend for all occasions.
