I really like to eat the fresh bagels when I visit New York and New Jersey. This was my first time visiting this chain and I wasn't disappointed. They have a large variety of bagels.

A GEM! Food is fresh and bagels are out of this world. The staff is so welcoming! Small seated area outside.
I got a Bacon egg cream cheese lettuce tomatoes on a toasted everything bagel and WAOW!!

Easily one of the best bagel spots in the city. The House Special - fresh lox, cream cheese, tomatoes, onions, and capers - is a must. My girlfriend got a bacon, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel which was also delicious. They have some outdoor seating as well as some indoor with a few barstools. I haven’t had a wrap from here here but hear great things.

Come get ya a bagel from where the locals get their bagels.
They are fast, friendly, and no frills.
I like that combo. It’s so good I’m gonna do what I don’t do often and go back tomorrow to get more!!!!

Awesome traditional New York City bagel shop. Fresh bagels, many varieties, great sandwiches, and fresh coffee.
My go to is a whole wheat everything bagel sandwich with cheese, egg, and bacon, and a coffee.
A tip, arrive early on weekends, as it gets busy after 10am.

There are far too many bagel shops in NYC that claim to have "New York style bagels" when in fact, they offer nothing less than a Dunkin' knockoff. As a local brand with multiple locations, one may think that Bagels & Schmear may, too, succumb to quantity over quality. But the bagels and experience you get here are as "New York" as anywhere.
I've had both everything and sesame seed bagels and both immediately remind me of one of the reasons I moved back to NYC in the first place.
Plump with a noticeable bite & shell and inflated with a fluffy tenderness, the bagels here are the perfect size for either a sandwich or for snacking (if you're like me and just enjoy a good 'plain' bagel more often than not.) The texture is always smooth and chewy; every time I've gone, at multiple times in the day, the bagels are handed to me still warm in the brown paper bag. The bagels also have present but not overwhelming sweetness to them, which pairs perfectly with the salty, savory, almost-too-much-ness of a classic B.E.C.
I'm glad I live right down the block from their 28th St store. But when I'm not in my home base of Nomad, I'll always be on the lookout for one of their other locations. And you should, too.

I hadn't had a true New York bagel in a hot minute, so this scratched the itch. Scallion cream cheese (you have your choice of maybe 6 different flavors at this hole in the wall bagel shop). Toasted sesame bagel. And a hot coffee. The perfect Manhattan breakfast.

Very good NY style bagels! The staff were very efficient and quick. That feeling like “they know there drill” and hear your customizations. The bagels have a great crust! The bite and tinsel of them; not too hard to break your teeth, or too leathery, but still holding together without becoming too crumby. Inside was light and airy. The everything bagel too with the perfect amount of seasoning sticking where you’re ready to eat 6 in a sitting! The only downfall was the ordering system; even though it’s “NY style” it’s confusing to guests without a rope to know who’s in front of who and who’s already ordered and who’s waiting to pay. Otherwise, a great spot with great prices for Manhattan!

This was such a good place to get a bagel! The scallion cream cheese is to die for! We had great service and wonderful food. The marble pound cake was also very good.

Bit of a line but moved quickly. The staff were nice, and there were a lot of options for bagels, spreads, and sandwiches. My wife got the garlic bagel with scallion cream cheese, and I got the everything bagel with cheddar, bacon, and jalapeños cream cheese. Both were delicious and the bagels had the perfect ratio of cream cheese to bagel. I would definitely go again on a future trip to New York.
