I always love coming here for Taiwanese food. There's a few dishes that we always get when we go, fly heads(not really fly heads the black beans), 3 cup chicken, tea pork ribs, sautéed cabbage, and bitter melon with salted egg. The portions are a little small but you get to order alot of different dishes to try.

Good food. Bad service. Got ignored easily when it’s rush hour. Had one time waiting for 15min on my table and all the customers who came later than me had got their dishes. The lead waitress with glasses is so rude. If you are a Chinese (not a Taiwanese) you might not be welcome to eat here.

Very generous owner. They reminded us “the most beautiful scenery in Taiwan is its people”. The owner gave us stir fried Chinese cabbage for free. The Taiwanese popcorn chicken doesn’t taste authentic yet it’s fantastic. Moreover, we didn’t know that it was CASH ONLY and wasn’t able to pay enough tips. The owner let go of that. Will definitely come back!

We went here with out three children. The food was astounding and the owner/chef spent a good amount of time talking to us. He even gave our kids some of his handmade ice cream! Would highly recommend and will be back!

Excellent food here, we ordered so much to try bunch of different items. The one I call flyheads with the pork and leeks was so good. Some bites you catch a pepper chunk and it lights your mouth up, but that is what I love about it. Livers, stinky tofu (okay I don't eat this one but my wife and her dad and aunt loved it), the soup with the blood sausage looking stuff, all of it met with a smile as it was devoured. The chef gave us this great mashed yam desert after we finished. I had never had it before, I have no idea what it's called, but that was a unique and tasty end to a great dinner.

Ordered the soy sauce pork over rice and oyster omelette. Feels like flavor was just ok. A little pricy for lunch. Maybe better to come in group so you can pick several dishes.

Been coming here for many years cause they have the most authentic Taiwanese food!
The atmosphere used to feel very cozy but the service has gone downhill since Covid. My last few visits were unpleasant because the waitress at the frontdesk was always very impatient and seems to annoyed easily by just a simple question. I don’t think I will come back as often as there are other good Taiwanese restaurant in the area.

Came in for a late lunch and the staff was about to take a break. My food selection choices were pretty limited but the dishes I ordered were really good. The portions were a little on the small side and the prices were a little on the high side, but authentic Taiwanese taste and flavor. I would go back again.

Looking for mouthwatering authentic Taiwanese food in NYC? Look no further. Main Street Imperial Taiwanese will satisfy your every craving. This hole-in-the wall spot has been serving flavorful and delectable dishes since 1997. My family and I always come here whenever we want to eat home-cooked food but don’t feel like cooking. We also always bring out-of-town visitors to dine here and everyone has loved it.

The crowd favorites are:
Kidneys with Hot Spicy Sauce
Sliced Stomach with Sour Mustard
Shredded Pork with Bamboo Shoot
Sweet and Sour Pork Chop
Salt and Pepper Chicken
Three Cup Chicken
Shredded Beef with Chili Pepper
Hakka Stir-Fry
Bitter Melon with Salty Egg
Conch with Basil
Fish Filet with Tofu in Red Yeast Sauce
Tofu Casserole
Hot and Sour Soup
Crazy Noodles

I definitely recommend eating in as opposed to takeout/delivery. The food here tastes best right out of the kitchen. Chef Lin works wonders with a wok and is cheerful, chatty and a great lover of fried chicken. Workers are both friendly and efficient. A veritable diamond in the rough, stop by if you’re in the neighborhood and judge it for yourself.

TIP - Cash only.

I loved this restaurant for many years, but this pick up order, really disappointed me. The oyster pancake, I feel the oyster is not very fresh, and the LuRou fan, the meet and rice both feel really dry. Not as good as before.
