I tried this restaurant for the first time yest. I ordered the shrimp and grits. My total was $16 and some change. The food was def cooked fresh and the staff was nice, good energy. The wait was a little long but they were a good experience. Only 2 complaints would be the top of the dish had a lot of oil. And the menu. Idk if it’s bc or covid or not but their menu now is Def more limited than the pics ppl have posted in th past.

One of our new LA spots ❤ Seriously, we walked in and were greeted not with that fake "I'm nice because I have to be professional at my job" type customer service- it was definitely more of a "just walked into auntie and uncle's house" family type vibe. As we waited for our food, we watched individuals come and go that we honestly couldn't tell if they were family or customers.

Food was freshly cooked (so dont go here thinking you are gonna retrieve your food fast because it was previously cooked and now nuked).

Presentation: Flawless

Food Quality/Flavor: Homestyle - cooked to order, all the food was cooked perfectly- NOTHING was overdone or underdone. Flavor was full and reflected/accented the food rather than overpower or taste salty. Meat was hearty and high quality.

Customer Service: Genuine interaction - Family type vibe

Environment: This is definitely one of those AMAZING "hole in the wall" places. It's a modest size with a friendly family atmosphere.

The food is the star here and you can tell he cooks with Love ❤

Very, very good food! Some of the best southern cuisine in LA. Customer service is good. There is a little wait for the food, 20-30 minutes but it's worth it! The food is absolutely AMAZING! Also the hours of operations should be met meaning if on Google or your website you state you will be open for a certain time, I would expect you all to be open at that time when I come. I'll be back there though for that Jambalaya and Oxtails!

Do not come to SimplyD'licious hungry! The wait is Simply ridiculous! Sat down at 5:58 food did not come to the table till 6:54. Thirty minutes into the wait the waitresses came out and apologized for the long wait and promised that the food would be out shortly...50 minutes into the wait the cook came out and apologized.... Was it worth the wait? Yes! The chicken and fish was fried and seasoned to perfection, the yams and mac just right. I could have eaten a dozen hush puppies because they just melted in my mouth..If you order the lemonade ask for no ice because at 3.50 a glass ya better get every drop! I gotta come back to try breakfast... I may have to call in my order cause the wait will truly test your patience

I was there for TWO HOURS and was served speghetti sauce poured over rice and sausage! THIS is what they called "Creole jambalaya". I told the waitress how it tasted and she took my bowl and Walked it where the cook was and loudly asked him "What did you do to this!!?"
I swear I felt like leaving. I almost felt like the person who cooked it did this on purpose. Speghetti sauce and rice called jambalaya??? The chef (owner) was not there and they said this is why it tasted like this.
Extremely LONG wait. I will NOT BE BACK. This was my second time going, so this is an accurate account (the pictures you see listed was From the first time I went).

Judging by the rest of these reviews; I can see this type of service is an "All the time" thing with this restaurant.

I waited months to use this groupon and it was a terrible let down. First, i went to use my groupon, but i did not have 4 people so i had to come back. There is no parking lot so parking is on the busy street and very difficult. Once we got in their was no wait so we sat right down, but it took quite a while before we were able to order. They were out of several menu items i tried to order, including the gumbo. We waited 2.5 HOURS for our food. I ordered a chicken dinner and i had to remind the waitress THREE times to bring it. We finished all our dinner and the chicken was still not done so we asked for it to go. When they finally gave it to us and it was wrong!!! I couldnt believe it. No complementary dessert or discount offered for our terrible experience or long wait. It was very unorganized and i think the biggest problems were in the kitchen. Looks like the chef is trying to cook everything on his own.

Having lived in New Orleans, I looked forward to eating at Simply D'Licious. Make sure you don't come too hungry because the food does take awhile to be prepared. That's not a problem because it's great to see "Chef" making your food fresh to order.

Overview: Although too salty, the food is authentic down south cuisine from a chef who knows his kitchen. The service could be better in terms of checking on customers for things like drink orders, refills, and taking orders more quickly.

My food: Fried catfish, greens, and mac n cheese. It came piping hot, fish was crispy on the outside/juicy on the inside. The greens were great--it's hard to find good greens in LA. I'm kinda picky with my mac n cheese, and this was okay. I like it either creamy or where cheese is melty-stretching when you pull the fork from it. Overall food was a solid 4, but be prepared for everything to be a little too far on the salty side.

Service: This is where I took the 4 stars to a 3. Our waitress was friendly as hell, but definitely seemed a little flustered and was moving at a slower pace. There weren't many customers but it took awhile to take our order. She also was friendly but pushy about us trying her turkey tacos--the salsa was bomb, but the turkey was way too salty.

The food left us thirsty and getting water refills seemed impossible, and you will get thirsty, especially if you add hot sauce. The young man at the register seemed to be spaced out looking in the distance rather than paying attention to customers. When I finally got his attention to ask for water, he went back to the register and forgot to return til I waved him over again. He seemed like a guy who just didn't wanna be there. That's unfortunate because the vibe from the kitchen was clearly a chef who loves to cook and wants to share his skills.

We arrived at 12:40 that they were still trying to get the place opened up.
Floors were being mopped and customers weren't told exactly what time to come back. We came back at 1:15 and they were iffy about letting us sit .
15 minutes later we were handed a menu. The lady came around 20 minutes later to take our order.  There was a couple in the table before ours and 2 girls after our table. We placed our order just to have her come back and tell us that there was no Oxtail and no gumbo.
The waitress wasn't very helpful at helping us pick anything else (we let her know that it was our first time). We had to change our entire order, then she said "it's still going to be another 35 minute for the food to be brought out" ... After waiting 10 minutes from when she took our order she brought us out 2 cups of water.
And now we wait for our good. (No completely anything, no chips while you wait, NADA).
2:33 and our food just came out.
No utensils were given to us so now we wait for that.No napkin as well.
I asked for a bit of sauce since my Po'boy was a bit dry (good but dry)... Still waiting on that 2:41
2:56 I got the sauce.
My boyfriends food was not what he thought it would be. no celery, no onions no papers, no chicken no trinity in sight and my Po'Boy was just that nothing more nothing less..  . just a simple shrimp Po Boy. The fries were good . the sweet tea had a perfume taste to it.
3:00 asked for the check.
$29. For a jambalaya and a shrimp po Boy.

Needless to say we probably won't be coming back. Not this early . not on a Sunday. Maybe next time it will be as great as the reviews say.
